What is a limited-service resort?
| Pinedale Resort is a small, quiet resort - just
five cozy and comfortable cabins. Because the resort is too small
to make a living by, the owners continue to live and work in the Twin
Cities, opening the cabins for a limited season with limited amenities
and no on-site staff. If you prefer quiet surroundings and are comfortable
managing your vacation experience, Pinedale Resort is for you. |
How do we check in if there is no on-site staff?
| The owners or a caretaker will be available during
Saturday check-in to show you to your cabin, explain the self-service
features of the resort and answer any questions. |
Do you have a beach?
| We do not have a beach. We maintain a natural
shoreline to promote fish habitat - this means you may be able to
catch very large bass right off the docks (see Fish Tales). The lake
bottom is sandy and weedy with a gradual slope to deeper water and
if you don’t mind the weeds, the lake is lovely for swimming.
You may also want to bring inflatable rafts or water toys. |
Do you have a boat launch?
| Yes, we have a cement boat ramp suitable for launching
fishing boats or small pontoon or deck boats. Wabedo Lake has a public
launch for larger boats or in times of low water levels. |
Do you rent fishing boats or pontoon boats?
| No, we do not rent boats or motors. We have 14-foot
Lund fishing boats for use at no charge, oars and anchor included.
You may reserve one of these boats if you want to bring your own motor.
Musky House Marine will deliver a pontoon boat to the resort and pick
it up again – call them at 218-363-2044 to inquire about rental.
Various size fishing boats with motors may be rented from other resorts
on our lake – ask us for details. |
How is the fishing?
| Usually the fishing is excellent. We will be happy
to point you to the good spots, but the rest is up to you! Free maps
of Wabedo and Little Boy lakes are available in the Office. |
Do you have a playground?
| No, but several lawn games can be borrowed in
the Office. There are also cards, board games and jigsaw puzzles to
borrow in the Office. |
Do you have cable TV or Internet?
Will my cell phone work?
| Maybe. Verizon customers usually have service
at the resort. Most services will connect in Longville. A landline
phone is available in the Office for emergencies, local calls or long
distance with a credit card. |
What should we bring?
| Bring your personal towels and soaps and whatever
other personal items you like. Cabins are outfitted with full kitchens,
dishes and silverware, pots and pans, coffee makers and filters, microwave
ovens, dish soap, kitchen sponges and towels, paper towels, toilet
paper, sheets, pillows and blankets. |
Do you allow ATV’s or PWC’s?
| No, we do not allow ATV’s or personal watercraft.
We also do not allow firearms or fireworks. |
Do you have a fish-cleaning house?
| Yes, we have modern, self-service fish-cleaning
house supplied with newspapers, plastic waste bags and a waste freezer.
We ask our guests to keep the fish house clean for themselves and
other guests by cleaning counters, walls and floor and properly disposing
of fish waste. |
Do you have fire rings?
| Yes, each cabin has its own fire ring and firewood
is supplied at no charge. Due to concerns about the spread of emerald
ash borer, you absolutely may not bring your own firewood, including
leftover dimensional lumber. Do not burn anything or put anything
in the fire rings except firewood we supply. We always keep the firewood
shed well stocked. |
Are there grills? Picnic tables?
| Every cabin has its own charcoal grill, picnic
table and two Adirondack style chairs. |
Do you have air-conditioning?
| All cabins have ceiling fans and portable fans,
and are not air-conditioned. |
Where can I buy bait? A fishing license? Ice? Mixed
gas? Food? Beer?
| Longville is just four miles away on paved highway
and has a wide variety of stores, including two bait shops, a gas
station, a large grocery store, a municipal bottle shop and many other
inviting restaurants and shops. Check out the city website at www.longville.com. |
What if there is an emergency?
| A landline phone is available in the Office 24
hours a day for emergencies. Simply dial 911 to reach local emergency
service. Longville offers Advanced Life Support ambulance service,
a volunteer fire department and local police. A caretaker visits the
resort during the week to assist with questions. If you experience
a problem in your cabin, you may use the Office phone to call the
owner for assistance. |
Do you rent by the season?
| Seasonal rentals are Pinedale Resort are available
beginning with the 2009 season. Please inquire by e-mail to pinedale@att.net. |
