Whenever you visit Pinedale Resort, you are sure to
find a variety of flowers in bloom, whether along the natural shoreline,
in the wetland, along the road or in our new butterfly garden. Last summer,
low lake water levels exposed an expanse of sand along the shoreline that
was quickly filled in by hundreds of jewelweed - a native annual related
to the potted impatiens in your backyard. As a bonus, the jewelweed drew
dozens of hummingbirds to its sweet trumpet-shaped flowers. What a treat
for our guests!
A short five-minute walk will bring you in sight of
all the native wildflowers pictured here, each in its season. Most photos
were taken on our grounds - the rest were taken along Wabedo Frontage
Road. Field guides are available at the Office for your use and we’ll
be happy to point you in the direction of the flowers you’d like
to see - this is a small sampling. Whether you walk a minute or a mile,
flowers are everywhere for your enjoyment at Pinedale Resort.
